On 27 March 2020, KGF Director Dr. Robert Heinsch, with the support of three of our IHL Clinic students, Mr Andrés Felipe Morales Arias, Ms. Fernanda García Pinto & Ms. Lígia Lazzarini Monaco submitted an amicus brief to the Special Jurisdiction for Peace in Bogota, Colombia. The amicus brief addressed several questions, including the meaning and scope of war crimes in international law and the Colombian Criminal Code, the possibility of amnesties for IHL violations, and the status and treatment of police forces in non-international armed conflicts.
