On Wednesday, 27 September 2017, our KGF Director Dr. Robert Heinsch will participate in a panel discussion on “IHL in Action: Changing the Narrative on IHL” in the context of the 12th Advanced Seminar in IHL for University Lecturers and Researchers of the ICRC and Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights. Other panelists will include H.E. Ambassador Beatriz Londoño Soto, Prof. Michael Schmitt, and Dr. Helen Durham. This panel discussion will also serve as the launch of the “IHL in Action” database and website. This project is an endeavor that the KGF’s IHL Clinic – together with its partner IHL Clinics Emory Law School (USA), Radzyner Law School (Israel) and Roma Tre Law School (Italy) – has undertaken in cooperation with the Law and Policy Forum of the ICRC, in order to collect real-life examples of instances where the rules of IHL were respected and implemented. The expert panel will take place on Wednesday, 27 September 2017, from 18:00-19:45 at the ICRC’s Humanitarian in Geneva, and will be live-streamed here.
