Ms. Kaetlin Gale obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Exeter and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Public International Law from Leiden University. She later gained work experience at international legal institutions in the Hague before qualifying as a lawyer in the United Kingdom (Solicitor, England and Wales). Her current area of focus in private practice is commercial real estate, including asset management and energy projects.

Kaetlin joined the Kalshoven-Gieskes Forum on IHL at Leiden University as a guest researcher and project coordinator in February 2018. Having written her Master of Laws (LL.M.) thesis on autonomous weapon systems and the IHL framework, her further research interests included the conduct of hostilities in modern warfare, especially the influence of new weapons technologies on IHL. As a project coordinator at the Forum, she supervised an IHL Clinic project which delivered legal advice on international criminal responsibility to an NGO client.
